Hodge to participate in health care debate


<p><a href="http://www.law.asu.edu/Apps/Faculty/Faculty.aspx?individual_id=65847">J… G. Hodge Jr.</a>, Lincoln Professor of Health Law and Ethics, and Director of the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law's Public Health Law and Policy Program, will present an <a href="http://www.law.asu.edu/files/Administration/Communication/News/2009/Nat…; of the health care reform proposals in Congress during a meeting of Project Civil Discourse on Tuesday, Dec. 1.</p><separator></separator><p>The program, &quot;Speaking, Not Shouting: A Community Conversation About Health Care Reform,&quot; will begin at 6:15 p.m. in the AE England Building in Civic Space Park, 444 N. Central Ave. in downtown Phoenix. It will engage participants in a town hall discussion that captures opinions from a diverse spectrum of citizens about key questions underlying health care reform. Its objective is to aid in public understanding of the health care issue presently being debated and discussed in Congress and to demonstrate how an issue such as health care reform can be discussed in a civil and respectful way.</p><separator></separator><p>The program is free, but pre-registration is required, as space is limited. He teaches Health Law, Ethics, and Policy, Public Health Law and Ethics, and Global Health Law and Policy. Before joining the College of Law faculty in 2009, Hodge was a Professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center, and a Core Faculty member of the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics.
