Hodge keynotes governor's conference on public health


<p><a href="http://www.law.asu.edu/Apps/Faculty/Faculty.aspx?individual_id=65847">J… G. Hodge Jr.</a>, the Lincoln Professor of Health Law and Ethics and Director of the College of Law's Public Health Law and Policy Program, was a keynote speaker at the 2010 Iowa Governor's Conference on Public Health, April 13-14, in Ames, Iowa.</p><separator></separator><p>Hodge addressed the plenary session, "Real-Time Legal Responses to H1N1 Influenza and Other Public Health Emergencies," on April 14. He also led a session, "Voluntarism in Public Health Emergencies," which examined the emergency legal environment concerning the deployment and use of volunteer health practitioners in real-time emergencies. Hodge identified and offered legal solutions to the multiple, distinct legal issues that confront such practitioners and the entities that send or host them during emergencies to meet the surge in patient capacity.</p><separator></separator><p>Through scholarly and applied work, Hodge delves into multiple areas of public health law, global health law, ethics, and human rights. He teaches Health Law, Ethics, and Policy, Public Health Law and Ethics, and Global Health Law and Policy at the College of Law.
