Hinshaw named Senior Fellow at Center for the Study of Dispute Resolution

Art Hinshaw, Director of the Lodestar Dispute Resolution Program at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, has been named a Senior Fellow at the Center for the Study of Dispute Resolution.

The Center, located at the University of Missouri School of Law, is the premier legal academic center devoted to dispute resolution scholarship. It recently received the Problem Solving in Law School Award from the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution in recognition for its numerous contributions to the field in the past 25 years.

Hinshaw's research and teaching interests lie in the field of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), primarily mediation and negotiation. His research bridges ADR theory and practice focusing on mediator responsibilities and behavior as well as attorney negotiation ethics. Hinshaw's teaching responsibilities include the Lodestar Mediation Clinic and Negotiation, among other ADR courses.

Hinshaw is active in the state and national ADR community. He has served as Chair of the ABA Dispute Resolution Section's Committee on Legal Education, and the Chair of the American Association of Law Schools Alternative Dispute Resolution Section. He is the only person who has served on the board of directors of Arizona's two ADR professional organizations, the Arizona Bar's Dispute Resolution Section and the Arizona Association of Conflict Resolution. Hinshaw also serves on the Steering Committee for Project Civil Discourse, a statewide effort to enhance and improve public dialogue and discussion about the important issues that affect Arizona. He also contributes to Indisputably, the ADR Prof Blog.
