Gymnastics qualifies for 31st NCAA Regional appearance

The Arizona State women's gymnastics team qualified for its 31st NCAA Regional in 32 seasons, March 26, earning the fifth seed at the Salt Lake City Regional. ASU will join No. 1 seed Nebraska, host Utah, Minnesota, Iowa State, and San Jose State at the Jon Huntsman Center at 6 p.m., April 7.

The Gym Devils begin Regional competition on beam, followed by a bye round, floor, vault, a second bye round and finish the meet on bars.

The top-18 teams are seeded on a national basis, based on RQS. Teams 19-36 are organized into three pods (19-24, 25-30 and 31-36) and placed geographically at one of the six sites, beginning with teams 19-24 followed by teams 25-30 and then finally teams 31-36. All-around competitors and event specialists are assigned to their respective geographic region or the designated site for their region.

Under head coach John Spini, the Sun Devils have qualified for 31 NCAA Regionals, 20 NCAA Championship appearances, nine top-five finishes and 19 top-10 finishes.
