Gordon takes reins as Emeritus College dean


<p>Len Gordon, professor emeritus of sociology, has been named dean of the Emeritus College , beginning July 1.</p><separator></separator><p>He will succeed Richard Jacob, the college&#39;s founding dean.</p><separator></separator><p>Gordon joined the ASU faculty in 1967 and has served as chair of the Sociology Department and associate dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.</p><separator></separator><p>He was a member of the Emeritus College steering committee, and participated in writing the proposal for the establishment of the college.</p><separator></separator><p>Gordon is a member of the college&#39;s creative writing program and has been writing a memoir of his life with his wife, Rena, who passed away last year.</p><separator></separator><p>Gordon plays competitive softball, and he is an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers and the University of Michigan Wolverines .</p><separator></separator><p>“I hope and look forward to continuing and helping to advance the college&#39;s programmatic progress as a benefit to the many talents of our emeritus faculty and to the university community,” Gordon says.</p>
