Golf pro recognized by Acushnet


<p>MESA, Ariz. — An Arizona State University alumnus was recognized by Acushnet Company in January with a $1,000 award and plaque for his success in the PGA of America's education program.</p><separator></separator><p>Peter McSparran, a native of Madison, Conn., and a graduate from the Morrison School of Management and Agribusiness Professional Golf Management program, received the 2006 Acushnet PGA Apprentice award for having the highest score of all ASU students testing for their PGA Level 3 checkpoint. This is the final level of testing prior to earning their Class A credential within the PGA.</p><separator></separator><p>“We believe he had one of the highest scores in the nation,” said Curt Hudek, ASU director of the professional golf program at the Polytechnic campus. </p><separator></separator><p>Acushnet, manufacturer of Titleist, FootJoy and Cobra brands, sponsors the testing levels for the PGA. McSparran is the first one to receive the award at ASU.</p><separator></separator>McSparran, who graduated in December, has accepted a position working for Charles River Country Club in Newton Centre, Mass., where he is the First Assistant Golf Professional.</p>
