Future ASU 'STEM Devil' Night at Arizona Science Center

During the fall months, high school seniors face a big decision: whether to pursue a higher education, particularly in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), where careers are in high demand. That’s why Arizona State University is reaching out to Valley students at a new, free event designed to support them and their families as they choose educational and career paths.
High school seniors, as well as sophomores and juniors, are invited to attend Future ASU STEM Devil Night from 6-9:30 p.m., Oct. 20, at the Arizona Science Center, 600 E. Washington Street in Phoenix. Students and their families will have an opportunity to meet with representatives from admissions, financial aid, and a variety of schools that focus on STEM-based careers.
“We are particularly interested in connecting with students and parents from families that do not yet have a tradition of college education,” said Miles Orchinik, associate director of School of Life Sciences undergraduate programs in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. “We want to reinforce the importance of a college degree, particularly in science-related fields, for the future success of young people. Earning a degree in a STEM-related field is not easy, so we want to make sure future students and parents know what to expect, and what they can do to be prepared for university courses.”
