Family Justice Bus to offer legal advice and services


<p>Legal advice and self-help information in the areas of business, domestic violence prevention and unemployment insurance will be offered to the public by the Family Justice Bus at the&nbsp;Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law on Oct. 23. <br /><br />Volunteers in the Justice Bus, a mobile legal services unit that has provided free income tax preparation for low-income taxpayers, help with wills for first responders, and seminars on consumer protection and unemployment insurance, will be available from 9 a.m. to noon in Armstrong Hall.&nbsp;RSVP and/or appointments are required. Free parking is available in the ASU parking structure at Rural and Terrace roads.<br /><br />These services are scheduled: <br /><br />• The Business Legal Assistance Program (by appointment only at blapasu@gmail.com). Small businesses, entrepreneurs, and non-profit organizations can receive help with legal issues facing them, such as how to form a business, and how to obtain a trademark or copyright.<br />• Domestic Violence Prevention and Awareness (presentation and consultations begin at 10 a.m.) Individual consultations on issues of child custody, divorce, orders of protection and other family law matters will take place. <br />• Unemployment Insurance Information and Intakes (presentations and consultations begin at 10 a.m.) Learn about unemployment insurance, including how to apply, and the appeal process through the Department of Economic Security. <br /><br />To RSVP for a presentation or set-up an appointment, e-mail <a href="mailto:justicebus@asu.edu">justicebus@asu.edu</a&gt; or call (480) 965-4450.<br /><br />The Family Justice Bus is organized by the student-run Consumer Advocacy Protection Program, and is supported by donations from the Shoumaker Family and other partners.</p>
