Fall Welcome celebrates class of 2017, new academic year

Join Arizona State University in welcoming new students and their families to campus by attending Fall Welcome activities, Aug. 15-20. This year’s celebration will feature more than 100 events specifically aimed at helping new Sun Devils become accustomed with the university.

Signature events include:

Aug. 15-20
Move in

Sunday, Aug. 18
Parents' Reception, 6-7:30 p.m., Arizona Ballroom, Memorial Union, Tempe campus. Meet fellow ASU parents, the Sun Devil Family Association Board, and ASU leadership and staff at this informal gathering.

Monday, Aug. 19
Barrett, the Honors College Assembly, 7:30-11 a.m., Tempe campus. Join Barrett students from across all four campuses for the Barrett Welcome and Assembly with welcome remarks by Dean Jacobs, introductions of faculty and staff, and a panel of students to talk about their Barrett experiences.

Tuesday, Aug. 20
Sun Devil Welcome, 1-1:30 p.m., Wells Fargo Arena, Tempe campus. You will be inspired by ASU President Michael Crow, learn about the opportunities that await you at ASU, sing the Fight Song and kick-off your Sun Devil story.

Tuesday, Aug. 20
Fall Welcome Concert, doors open at 7 p.m., Wells Fargo Arena, Tempe campus. Features performances from Gavin DeGraw and Andy Grammer.

Wednesday, Aug. 21
Passport to ASU, 6:30 p.m., Sun Devil Fitness Complex and the Memorial Union, Tempe campus. Learn about the various clubs and organizations that ASU has to offer.

Thursday, Aug. 22
First day of classes

Former Sun Devil Phil Mickelson wins British Open Championship

Former Sun Devil golfer Phil Mickelson earned his first British Open Championship on July 21, his fifth overall majors victory.
 
The Open win was fitting for a Sun Devil, his 42nd overall professional golf tournament victory. Mickelson, brother of Sun Devil men's golf head coach Tim Mickelson, has stayed close to the ASU golf program and met with team members in March.
