Event to focus on US-Israeli relations

November 28, 2011

Arizona Congressman Trent Franks and Deputy Consul General of Israel Gil Artzyeli will participate in “Supporting Israel: An American Issue,” 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., Dec. 4.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the La Sala Ballroom, in the University Center Building at ASU’s West campus, 4701 W. Thunderbird Road in Phoenix. It is sponsored by the American-Israeli Alliance (AIA), an ASU student organization.

“Attendees will gain a more full understanding about why a strong U.S.-Israel relationship is important, and that supporting Israel is not only a Jewish or Christian issue, but is an issue that all Americans can agree is important,” said Boaz Witbeck, a political science major at ASU’s West campus and the president of AIA. “The event will focus on two different perspectives on the U.S.-Israel relationship, from a congressman and an ambassador. Each will share how they are personally involved in maintaining the relationship as well as the many fundamental ways that make the relationship natural.”
