Escobedo, Castillo and Boyd Placed on All-American First Team

A total of 54 student-athletes were named to the 2011 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-American teams June 1, which included Sun Devils Dallas Escobedo, Kaylyn Castillo and Katelyn Boyd, who were all named to the First Team, making it six consecutive seasons that ASU Softball has had at least one All-American

The Sun Devil softball team was among an elite three clubs to place three players on the first team in 2011. At the pitcher position Dallas Escobedo nabbed her first appearance in a breakout freshman campaign after notching the 20th-best ERA in the nation at 1.37 and striking out 286 batters along the way.

Behind the dish Kaylyn Castillo earned her stripes on the first team by hitting at a .358 clip and tallying 36 runs scored. In an at-large section at shortstop, Katelyn Boyd was the third ASU athlete to be recognized on the team. The junior has a .437 batting average, 17 home runs and paces the NCAA in runs per game with 1.25.
