Eight scores Emmys in 5 award categories


<p>Eight/KAET-TV, a part of ASU, received Emmys in five award categories of television excellence Oct. 6 at the 30th Annual Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards.</p><separator></separator><p>The Emmys were presented at the chapter’s awards banquet at the Renaissance Glendale Hotel &amp; Spa.</p><separator></separator><p>The five award categories ranged from program production to promotional campaigns to interactivity on the Web.</p><separator></separator><p>“Buzz,” a profile of Arizona’s vibrant and emerging arts scene, was awarded the Emmy in the “Arts/Entertainment Program Special” category. Beth Vershure, Suzanne Guery, Benjamin Pierce and Jen Burke are the ones who put the profile together.</p><separator></separator><p>“Under Arizona,” the newest addition to Eight’s acclaimed “Arizona Collection” anthology, received an award for editing under the category</p><separator></separator><p>“Editor-Program Not News.” Ben Avechuco and Jim Jacoby did the editing.</p><separator></separator><p>The program’s sound design also received an Emmy in the category of “Audio – Live or Post-Production.” Sam Esparza at Big U Music Sound Design earned the credit for that work.</p><separator></separator><p>The promotional trailer for “Under Arizona” earned an Emmy in the “Promotion Program Spot or Campaign” category, with the work done by Burke and Jacoby. A second Emmy also was awarded to Eight in that category for the “Viewers Like You” on-air campaign, also done by Burke and Jacoby.</p><separator></separator><p>In fulfilling the station’s mission as a community resource and to encourage civic participation, Eight’s “Vote 2006” Web site, compiled by Susan Soto and Adam Draper, received an Emmy in the “Advanced Media – Interactivity” category.</p><separator></separator><p>Susan Soto, <a href="/susan.soto@asu.edu">susan.soto@asu.edu</a> <br />(480) 965-0579 <br />Eight/KAET-TV</p>
