Des Georges named director of marketing, PR at West campus

ASU has named Steve Des Georges to the post of director of public relations and marketing at the West Campus. The former vice president of marketing and sales for the Maricopa County Sports Commission will manage public relations, marketing and advertising activities for ASU's West campus.<separator></separator>“Steve's insight, leadership and strong background in marketing and media relations experience will add tremendous strength as ASU's West campus continues to expand its academic programs,” says Carol Poore, vice provost of Public Affairs of the West campus.<separator></separator>Des Georges came to the Valley in 1982 as the communications director for United States Football League's Arizona Wranglers after a seven-year association with the San Jose (Calif.) Earthquakes of the North American Soccer League.<separator></separator>He joined the executive staff at Phoenix International Raceway in 1985 as the public relations director and was promoted to vice president of corporate development and communications in 1994.<separator></separator>Before joining the Sports Commission, he served as vice president of marketing and public relations for the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction in Scottsdale.<separator></separator>
