Deer Valley Rock Art Center a 'Best of Phoenix' pick


<p>Every year, <i>New Times</i> releases a special edition dedicated to recognizing excellence throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area. Known as the “Best of Phoenix” issue, the guide lists what <i>New Times</i> staff deem, among other things, the best places to dine, visit, shop and be entertained. This year’s Best of Phoenix issue — the 30th annual edition — features Deer Valley Rock Art Center as the “Best Will Bruder Building No One Knows About.” </p><p>Run by ASU’s School of Human Evolution and Social Change, the Deer Valley Rock Art Center is a museum, nature preserve and archaeological site boasting over 1,500 petroglyphs. The museum – a sleek dark building that seems camouflaged against the surrounding Hedgpeth Hills—was designed by noted architect Will Bruder and constructed in the 1990s. </p>
