Colloquium to celebrate milestones of Downtown Phoenix campus

The University Club is hosting a colloquium at noon, Sept. 24, to celebrate the milestones that are taking place on Arizona State University’s Downtown Phoenix campus in the heart of the nation’s sixth-largest city.

Christopher Callahan, vice provost of the ASU Downtown Phoenix campus and dean of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, will provide remarks on the exponential growth of the campus.

Less than a decade ago, the Downtown Phoenix campus was little more than a simple idea. Since then, the seven-year-old urban campus – created through a partnership with the City of Phoenix – is flourishing with more than 10,000 students across five colleges, including the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, the College of Public Programs, the College of Nursing and Health Innovation, the School of Letters and Sciences and the new College of Health Solutions.

Two 13-floor residence halls, as well as newly constructed fitness and student centers, add to the growing student life downtown. With plans officially now underway to bring the Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law downtown, the campus enters another exciting chapter in its short, yet dynamic history.

As part of the event, a chef’s choice buffet also will be provided for $15 per person.
