Colleges help lure firm to Mesa

ASU's Polytechnic campus and Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) were instrumental in the decision made by a Phoenix engineering firm to relocate to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport rather than accepting out-of-state offers, according to a recent article in the Arizona Republic.

"The schools were part of the package that kept us here," said Lee Benson, chief executive, president and majority shareholder of Able Engineering and Component Services. Benson told the Republic that the company had been in contact with ASU and CGCC about learning and training opportunities for its employees.

The article states: "Benson told the Republic that the proximity of the schools, combined with opportunities for the company to take advantage of tax breaks and other savings through the airport's Foreign Trade and Military Reuse zones, were more appealing than seizing lucrative offers from other states."
