College presents research colloquium examining relational forgiveness processes

March 15, 2007

Over a decade of social science research has examined the role of forgiveness in personal healing from relational hurts and in creating possibilities for reconciliation.

In this colloquium, ASU communication studies professors Vincent Waldron and Douglas Kelley examine a program of research that focuses on understanding the role of communication in negotiating relational forgiveness processes. Focus is given to determining the very nature of interpersonal forgiveness, strategies that individuals use to grant and seek forgiveness, and the role of values in initiating recovery from relational hurt.

The presentation is free to the public and takes places at ASU’s West campus (4701 West Thunderbird Road) on April 9 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in CLCC L1-99.

The presentation will include quotes and anecdotes collected during interviews with long-term married couples and younger romantic pairs.
