September 26, 2011

Changemaker Central is officially launching at Arizona State University with weeklong events Sept. 26 - 30.The kickoff is a celebration highlighting the leadership and social entrepreneurship initiatives that will be occurring throughout the year.

Located on all four of ASU’s campuses, Changemaker Central (CC) is a student-run centralized resource hub for co-curricular activities involving entrepreneurship, civic engagement and community service to catalyze social change.

“Changemaker Central empowers students to apply their education, expertise and passion for positive social progress and life-long civic engagement,” said Kellie Lowe, Director of the Memorial Union. “It cultivates a culture that tackles local and global challenges through collaboration, innovation and diverse approaches to problem-solving.”

The week will play host to many activities and presentations by well-known speakers including Brian Bacon, founder of Oxford Leadership academy, and Rev. Dr. Jannah Scott, Deputy Director of the White House Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships, Department of Homeland Security.
“We are thrilled to have Jannah be a part of Changemaker. ASU is one of 250 colleges across the country participating in the Interfaith & Service Campus Challenge, and the only university in the state of Arizona,” said Amy Golden, Director for Strategic Initiatives.
