Bus strike update: FLASH buses will run March 13-15

Due to the Tempe bus strike that was called on March 10 and is currently on-going, PTS was notified around 6am Monday that the FLASH shuttle buses would not run, as they are operated by the company involved with the strike.

In response to this disruption in service by Tempe bus drivers, PTS is providing a solution to ensure that Sun Devils can continue to reach their campus destinations by contracting for substitute shuttles.

PTS has retained Coach America, the same bus company that operates its intercampus shuttles, to provide shuttle service on the FLASH routes beginning Tuesday, March 13, through Thursday, March 15. It is PTS’ hope that this will service the largest number of students, faculty and staff as possible and reduce the adverse impact of the Tempe bus drivers’ strike while on campus.

Hours of operation will be as follows:

  • FLASH Forward: Approximately every 20 minutes from 7 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • FLASH Back: Every 30 minutes from 7 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • FLASH McAllister: Every 30 minutes from 6 a.m.-10 p.m.

The intercampus shuttle system continues to operate on its regular schedule and is unaffected by the bus strikes in both Tempe and Phoenix.

PTS will keep the ASU community posted as updates to the strike develop. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to follow PTS on Twitter @ASUtransit and find them on Facebook at “ASU Transit” for the most up-to-date information.
