Brett Wallace named Pac-10 Player of the Week


Arizona State junior 3B Brett Wallace has been named the Pac-10 Player of the Week, the conference announced today. It is the second time in his career he has earned the honor from the conference.

Wallace, from Sonoma, Calif., opened up the 2008 season by going 5-for-12 (.417) over the weekend, helping Arizona State sweep the DeMarini Invitational. In the 18-6 win over No. 3 Vanderbilt, Wallace hit his first career grand slam and a three-run shot to tie his career-high with seven RBI. On Sunday against No. 7 Oregon State, Wallace led off the game with a solo shot, his third straight at-bat with a homer, helping ASU to an 11-0 win. Wallace finished the opening weekend with nine RBI, seven runs scores and slugging 1.167%. Wallace went on to be named the Most Outstanding Player of the DeMarini Invitational
