Brett Wallace named Pac-10 Player of the Week


<p> Arizona State junior 3B <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/wallace_brett00.html">… Wallace</a> has been named the Pac-10 Player of the Week, the conference announced today. It is the second time in his career he has earned the honor from the conference.</p><separator></separator><p>Wallace, from Sonoma, Calif., opened up the 2008 season by going 5-for-12 (.417) over the weekend, helping Arizona State sweep the DeMarini Invitational. In the 18-6 win over No. 3 Vanderbilt, Wallace hit his first career grand slam and a three-run shot to tie his career-high with seven RBI. On Sunday against No. 7 Oregon State, Wallace led off the game with a solo shot, his third straight at-bat with a homer, helping ASU to an 11-0 win. Wallace finished the opening weekend with nine RBI, seven runs scores and slugging 1.167%. Wallace went on to be named the Most Outstanding Player of the DeMarini Invitational</p>
