Bodansky to speak at U.N. climate change conference

Professor Daniel Bodansky will address a special event organized by the ad hoc working group on the Durban Platform (ADP) for the annual United Nation’s Framework Convention on Climate Change, Dec. 1, in Doha, Qatar.

Bodansky’s keynote presentation is part of a joint discussion with Professor Jiahua Pan of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Together, they will address the 2015 agreement made between the ADP and the European Union. The goal of agreement is to inform politicians and members of the scientific and technical committees, so that a consensual legal framework can be adopted by 2015 and implemented by 2020.

The ADP was established at last year's convention in Durban, South Africa, and is the main negotiating group to develop a protocol, legal instrument or an agreed outcome with legal force that, under the Convention, will be applicable to all European nations.

Bodansky is the ASU Lincoln Professor of Law, Ethics and Sustainability and a preeminent authority on global climate change whose teaching and research focus on international environmental law and public international law.
