Bodansky interviewed in 'Arizona Attorney'
An interview with Daniel Bodansky, the ASU Lincoln Professor of Law, Ethics, and Sustainability at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, is the cover story of the October issue of Arizona Attorney magazine.
In “Running Hot & Cold: Expert Says Climate Change Policy Develops – Slowly,” Bodansky is introduced to the Arizona legal community in a question-and-answer session with editor Tim Eigo. Bodansky arrived at the law school in August from the University of Georgia School of Law where he was Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Emily and Ernest Woodruff Chair in International Law.
Bodansky discussed, among other topics, ASU’s emphasis on sustainability, his recent keynote address at a United Nations course in Finland, the stall in efforts to combat climate change, his new book, The Art & Craft of International Law, and the current political landscape regarding climate change legislation in the United States.
“I think we’ve gone backward in the past year,” Bodansky said. “In the year preceding Copenhagen, people felt there was at least a 50-50 change of getting a climate bill. In fact, the entire U.S. preparation for Copenhagen was predicated on the realistic prospect of climate legislation.
“Now we’re looking at least at a few more years before we have legislation. That makes it more difficult to imagine how the international process will move forward significantly.”
