Birnbaum selected as 'Lawyer of the Year' by 'Best Lawyers in America'

Gary Birnbaum, associate dean for program development at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, was selected as the Phoenix-area “Lawyer of the Year for Condemnation and Eminent Domain Law,” by the Best Lawyers in America 2011 edition.

This award marks Birnbaum’s third selection as “Lawyer of the Year” in the Phoenix area. His previous selections were in the “Bet-the-Company Litigation” and “Alternative Dispute Resolution” fields.

Birnbaum is also listed in Best Lawyers in America in eight categories, including Business Litigation, Real Estate Litigation, Mediation, Arbitration and Legal Malpractice Defense.

Birnbaum is the Managing Director of Mariscal, Weeks, McIntyre & Friedlander, P.A., a general civil practice law firm based in Phoenix. He has significant experience in all aspects of commercial and real estate litigation, and has also handled business, real estate and securities transactions in various contexts. He teaches advanced courses on Private Property Rights and Advanced Topics in Business Law: Valuation of Interests in Real Estate and Closely-Held Businesses at the College of Law. Birnbaum also is a faculty member and one of the founders of ASU's transdisciplinary Master of Real Estate Development program.
