Bioengineering helps battle acid-reflux

ASU’s Bruce Towe has teamed up with a local physician and entrepreneur to develop a device that promises relief for people who suffer from acid-reflux. Towe is a professor in the School of Biological and Health Systems Engineering, part of ASU's Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering.

He's working on ultrasound-based technology, including a microchip small enough to fit into a syringe. Beyond helping control acid-reflux, the technology also might be effective in reducing pain caused by physical ailments and in treating neurological disorders.
