Bender comments on SB 1070

<a href="http://apps.law.asu.edu/Apps/Faculty/Faculty.aspx?individual_id=23">Paul Bender</a>, professor of law and dean emeritus at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, was quoted in a May 9 Arizona Republic article, “Gov. Jan Brewer wants Supreme Court to overturn SB 1070 ruling,” by reporters Ginger Rough and Michael Kiefer.<separator></separator>The article discussed the recent decision by Gov. Jan Brewer to appeal directly to the U.S. Supreme Court to lift the injunction that has blocked major portions of SB 1070 from taking effect. It explains that, while the Supreme Court typically accepts cases when lower courts have made conflicting decisions, it could have special importance as other states have introduced similar legislation.<separator></separator>Bender explains that SB 1070 could be “an invitation for every state to pass some sort of immigration law, and that’s a nightmare.
