Susan Goettl, left, and Carina Galvez, right, participate in a game of "Oh Deer" in Professor Peter Rillero's "Science in Elementary Schools" class. The game is a simulation to help students meet these learner outcomes: (1) describe food, water, and shelter as three essential components of habitat; (2) describe factors that influence carrying capacity; (3) define limiting factors and give examples; and (4) explain that some fluctuations in wildlife populations are natural as ecological systems undergo constant change. Rillero likes to use the game as a way to show how learning can be fun.

The Navy ROTC Battalion was assembled on the lawn in front of Old Main before the Change of Command Ceremony. In a ceremony as old as the United States Navy, the command of the ASU Naval ROTC Battalion, The Sea Devils‚ changed hands as MIDN Katlin Forster was relieved by MIDN Michael Swahn. This ceremony mirrors that conducted in the Fleet. As the new commanding officer of the Sea Devil Battalion, Midshipman Commander Swahn will be directly involved in formulating and executing policy that will influence how the unit trains the new generation of Navy and Marine Corps leadership. The off-going Commander, Midshipman Katlin Forster, will be commissioned as an ensign in the United States Navy following graduation, and then attend flight training in Pensacola, Florida.
