ASU's third annual Out of the Darkness walk set for March 23


ASU students walking for suicide prevention

March 23 marks the third annual Out of the Darkness campus walk at ASU Tempe to raise awareness about depression and suicide.

The event will be held on Hayden Lawn and includes speakers, a brief commemorative ceremony and a 2.5 mile walk on campus to raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to fund research and education programs. Registration, a resource fair and entertainment begin at 8 a.m., followed by speakers at 9:30 a.m. Individuals and teams are invited to register for the walk at www.campuswalks.org.

The keynote speaker will be Patrick Norris, a licensed professional counselor who serves as the clinical coordinator and program supervisor for the EMPACT Suicide Prevention Center. The campus walk begins at 10 a.m.

The resource fair and entertainment will continue following the walk. ASU students, faculty, staff and the greater Phoenix community are invited to participate in the walk as individuals, families and teams.
