MESA, Ariz. - Arizona State University will host the first annual Educational Fair at the Polytechnic campus for K-12 administrators and educators in Arizona, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Jan. 8, in the Student Union Ballrooms at the Polytechnic campus.
Fair attendees will come away with new ideas, information and freebies. A "Make 'n Take" area will be available for participants to complete hands-on activities and take away lessons. In addition, there will be readings from children's books and Billie Enz, ASU associate director for Professional Development Curriculum and Instruction will present "Learning From the Inside Out."
"We would like to help teachers identify community resources that will help them in the classroom, and the goal of the fair is to bring these resources and teachers together to benefit student learning," said Debi Molina-Walters, organizer of the event and assistant professor in the Education Department.
Forty community partners will be participating, including the Botanical Gardens, Mesa Fire Department, American Red Cross, IMAX, Arizona Museum for Youth, Riparian Institute, Science is Fun, and many more. Teachers are encouraged to attend and take advantage of the community resources.
