ASU upgrades Oracle's PeopleSoft system

ASU is upgrading Oracle’s PeopleSoft system from version 8.9 to 9.0 to ensure ongoing vendor support. Once complete, ASU will have an updated information system containing the university's own customizations and data.

PeopleSoft is the software ASU uses to manage the university's student and human resources information systems. The ASU community primarily connects to PeopleSoft through My ASU. Students use PeopleSoft to enroll in classes, update their contact information, view and pay tuition, accept or decline financial aid, and see their grades and transcripts. Faculty and staff use PeopleSoft to post grades, manage student data, record work hours, and perform human resources tasks.

It is important to note that this is an upgrade, not an implementation. An upgrade requires no major process changes or organizational restructuring but is rather an enhancement of the University's existing system. This is the first upgrade since ASU implemented PeopleSoft in 2006.

The upgrade is currently on schedule with a first go-live set for September. ASU’s human resources information system will be upgraded next year with the project’s target completion also slated for 2013. As the university nears its completion date, appropriate business offices will communicate with their departments about any changes affecting faculty and staff.

ASU will also provide instructor-led presentations, online self-paced information and drop-in help for people with questions. These activities will largely take place throughout the second half of this year.
