ASU students, faculty, staff enjoy new Downtown Civic Space Park


<p>A student relaxes on the grass on the newly opened Downtown Civic Space Park, located next to ASU's Downtown Phoenix campus.</p><separator></separator><p>Floating above is artist Janet Echelman's net sculpture, titled &quot;Her secret is patience.&quot; The design of the sculpture was inspired by Arizona's distinctive monsoon cloud formations, and by saguaro flowers and boots (which form inside the cactus).</p><separator></separator><p>The 2.77-acre Downtown Civic Space Park includes several large grassy areas, spaces with game tables, an interactive water feature, public seating and hardscape where student organizations can network, much like they do outside ASU's Memorial Union in Tempe.</p><separator></separator><p>Special lighting makes the sculpture visible as a landmark at night.</p>
