ASU students advance to national finals in ABA advocacy competition

Two third-year students from the College of Law competed in the national round of the American Bar Association’s Representation in Mediation Competition on April 3 in Chicago.

Alexandra Anemone and Daniel Crane advanced to the finals and, in a split decision, finished as national runners-up to the team from the Faulkner University School of Law.

“A number of judges and mediators came up to me during the conference singing Alex’s and Dan’s praises,” said clinical professor Art Hinshaw, who is also member of the ABA's Standing Committee on Mediator Ethical Guidance.

In the competition, law students role-play as attorneys and clients in a mediation setting to measure how well they can model appropriate preparation for and representation of a client.
