ASU Purchasing earns 6th achievement of excellence award

The National Procurement Institute named Arizona State University as the recipient of its 19th annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement award July 25 for the sixth consecutive year. Since 2009, the National Procurement Institute has recognized ASU Purchasing for its consistent leadership, innovative solutions and commitment to professionalism.

ASU is one of only 23 institutions of higher education in the United States, and one of only 14 government agencies in Arizona to receive the distinction.

“I am thrilled that purchasing can continue carrying on this tradition of excellence,” said Nichol Luoma, director of ASU Purchasing. “This prestigious award represents the dedication and hard work of my staff to meet ASU’s goal of increased accessibility and quality of a degree.”

Public and non-profit institutions that obtain high marks based on standardized criteria are chosen for the National Procurement Institute's annual Achievement of Excellence award. Recipients also receive a trophy.

ASU will receive the award at the institute's annual conference in Texas this October. The award also will be highlighted during the National Association of Educational Procurement’s annual meeting next spring in Atlanta.

ASU Purchasing supports the university's instruction, research and community support missions by efficiently providing needed goods and services.
