ASU prof helps develop new manufacturing system
Arizona State University associate research professor Bert Vermeire has been instrumental in development of technology to enable more efficient use of resources in semiconductor chip manufacturing.
He is co-founder of a business venture that holds a patent for technology that promises to cut by half the significant amount of water now required for conventional chip-manufacturing processes.
The Arizona Daily Star recently reported on the company and its new electrochemical system, which it says will also shorten manufacturing time and result in fewer defective chips.
Vermeire, an electrical engineer, is on the faculty of the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering, a part of ASU’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering.
