ASU partners with Collegiate Licensing Company
The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), a division of IMG Worldwide, announced it has reached an agreement with Arizona State University to manage its domestic U.S. trademark licensing program, effective July 1.
“We believe partnering with CLC, the leader in collegiate licensing, and the other high-caliber institutions CLC represents, will help us grow the ASU brand through innovative programs and increased presence in the marketplace,” said Sam Wheeler, executive director of auxiliary business services for the university. “CLC’s experience, relationships and resources will help take the ASU licensing program to the next level.”
ASU will gain access to the leading brand protection, brand management, and brand development services that CLC currently provides to nearly 200 collegiate properties in the $4.3 billion retail market for college product. ASU will also benefit from CLC’s licensing model, which allows the university to partner with a series of best-in-class licensees that are able to best service its goals and marketplace.
Proceeds from ASU’s trademark licensing program go to protect and promote the university’s name, enhance student activities and facilities, and support athletic programs.
“We are excited about the opportunity to partner with ASU to continue building on its successful licensing program,” said Cory Moss, CLC’s senior vice president. “The university has a tradition-rich history with a loyal base of supporters nationwide and boasts one of the largest student enrollments of any institution in the nation. We look forward to helping maximize ASU’s licensing program as it enters the next phase of its evolution.”
ASU joins Pacific-10 Conference (PAC-10) member institutions The University of Arizona, University of California, Berkeley, University of California Los Angeles, Oregon State University, Stanford University, the University of Washington, and Washington State University to become the eighth PAC-10 institution represented by CLC.
