ASU Magazine highlights wellness tips, health care leaders in latest issue
The June 2013 edition of ASU Magazine features a cover story offering wellness tips from university researchers and alumni, and provides a showcase of 10 alumni who are leaders in the rapidly changing field of health care.
The cover story, “Wellness wishes,” discusses how health-related research at ASU makes its way from the laboratory to the wider world. In addition to training those who will transform health care and integrating scientific investigation with clinical practice, ASU health experts focus on an underrepresented truth: good health is largely made up of what we do every day. This story provides practical tips on how to achieve goals such as losing weight, eating more healthily, communicating better with one’s children and more.
A second feature section, titled “Diagnosing the future,” presents brief profiles of 10 ASU alumni who are CEOs in health-related companies, including hospitals, health insurance providers and technology providers to the industry. It takes a special kind of leader to show the way to a more effective future, and these Sun Devils excel at steering their companies in an uncertain political and economic landscape.
In addition to these two features, the June edition includes a sports story on the “road to graduation” for ASU’s student-athletes; an arts story on arts-related courses for older adults that are hosted by ASU’s Osher Lifetime Learning Institute; updates on ASU’s sports teams; news and photos from alumni chapters across the country; and a full complement of alumni-focused news reports in the Class Notes section.
