ASU launches 'Thrive' digital magazine app for iPad users
Arizona State University has launched a digital magazine, ASU Thrive, that features Adobe’s Digital Publishing Suite and is available free of charge to iPad users.
“This is an innovative and dynamic presentation of ASU stories of success, community impact, research breakthroughs, personal profiles and more,” said Dan Dillon, ASU chief marketing officer. “There is a tremendous audience of iPad users who demand quality and convenience in the delivery of subject matter that matches their interest areas. Just as these consumers are on the cutting edge of technology use, this magazine will present ASU in a convenient and completely engaging cutting-edge format.”
The magazine’s editorial focus will parallel the ASU Charter: a public research university measured not by whom it excludes, but by whom it includes and how they succeed; one that advances research and discovery of public value; and an institution that assumes fundamental responsibility for the economic, social, cultural and overall health of the communities it serves. ASU Thrive will follow the progress being made across the university in the charter areas.
“We are looking forward to sharing ASU’s vision and accomplishments with a large university community that includes alumni, students and faculty, community leaders and supporters, policymakers, advocates across the country and around the world, prospective employers and those who will become tomorrow’s Sun Devils,” said Dillon.
ASU Thrive is an iPad experience that will be published three times per year. It is designed for those who regularly follow ASU’s colleges, programs, centers and institutes, and those who teach and learn at the university. Stories are presented via text, video and audio, combining groundbreaking design and links to additional sources in an interactive and compelling format.
Included in the inaugural issue are video stories about the first-ever ASU Charter, the university’s 2014 “Salute to Service,” the 50th anniversary of ASU Gammage, the addition of men’s ice hockey to Sun Devil Athletics’ roster of intercollegiate sports and more. A series of stories provided by the ASU Alumni Association explores ASU’s role in “Building Intelligent Cities,” “Transformative Learning,” selected university public-art pieces, alumni profiles and more.
The app also allows direct access to the university website, providing an even deeper dive into ASU. The ASU Thrive app is available for download at the Apple App Store.
