ASU hosts College Goal Sunday
From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Feb. 11, ASU campus representatives will help high school seniors fill out financial aid forms on College Goal Sunday. Students enrolling in any college or university are welcome to attend the free event, sponsored by the Arizona Commission for Postsecondary Education.
Since its inception, the annual College Goal Sunday has helped more than 27,000 college-bound students and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, the first step toward finding financial aid to reach their education dreams.
Representatives from ASU's Polytechnic, Tempe and West campuses will join the other 27 statewide locations in the event. Financial aid counselors will answer questions, discuss the types of financial aid options available, and help students and their families complete the FAFSA. Spanish speakers will be available at all three ASU locations, and Navajo speakers will be present at the Tempe campus.
Students are encouraged to come with their parents and bring their U.S. Department of Education personal identification number, available at the Web site (www.pin.ed.gov), to the event for ease in filing the FAFSA online. The PIN serves as an electronic signature and provides students and parents with access to personal records throughout the student's college education. Other documents students may need to bring to the event are listed online at (www.fafsa.ed.gov).
Of the 3,237 students and parents who attended locations across Arizona last year, 25 percent said they could not have completed the FAFSA without the assistance they received at College Goal Sunday.
Free parking is available on Sundays. For more information, including maps and driving directions, visit the Web site (www.asu.edu/fa/cgs) or call (480) 965-3355.
