The ASU Foundation for A New American University has been recognized as a 2014 CareerBuilder Top Company to Work for in Arizona. It was the only foundation named to the list of 75 Top Companies.

Companies earning consideration were evaluated and selected by CareerBuilder and Republic Media (The Arizona Republic, azcentral.com, 12 News, La Voz) based on a combination of overall satisfaction scores from an employee engagement survey and evaluation from an employer questionnaire covering topics related to HR programs, benefits and workplace culture.

“People spend of a lot of time at work,” said foundation CEO R.F. “Rick” Shangraw Jr. “We want to create a place where our people are not only developing professionally, but also find personal fulfillment. That is what we are trying to create here at the foundation. We are creating a place to grow, a place to have fun and a place where our employees can make a difference in this world.”

Since joining the foundation in 2011, Shangraw has placed an emphasis on building a culture of opportunity and innovation within a team of more than 150 employees. Under his direction, employee retention at the foundation has increased, and along with it, private support for ASU. Shangraw has enhanced the foundation’s professional development programs, introduced a robust employee-recognition program, provided team members with ethics training opportunities and created a clear career-development path to all positions within the 59-year-old nonprofit organization.

“At the ASU Foundation, we serve, innovate, engage and care.” Shangraw said. “This recognition reflects those goals. I am proud to be a part the foundation team, and I’m proud to serve ASU.”
