ASU encourages women to ‘Take Back the Night’


<p dir="ltr"><span class="style1" lang="en-us">MESA, Ariz.</span><span class="style1" lang="en-us"> — Rape, sexual assault, sexual abuse and domestic violence are often labeled “crimes of silence.” Help others break the silence and raise awareness at the “Take Back the Night” event held at Arizona State University’s Polytechnic campus in southeast Mesa April 23. A candle ceremony and speakers are planned. </span></p><separator></separator><p class="style1" dir="ltr"><span lang="en-us">The schedule of events on April 23 follows:</span></p><separator></separator><p class="style1" dir="ltr"><span lang="en-us">5:30 p.m. — Student Union South Patio: Light Refreshments and Information Fair </span></p><separator></separator><p class="style1" dir="ltr"><span lang="en-us">6:00 p.m. — Cooley Ballrooms: Presentation on domestic violence and sexual assault by Wanda Tucker-Hicks; two survivors speak out; and keynote speaker Foula Dimopoulos</span></p><separator></separator><p class="style1" dir="ltr"><span lang="en-us">7:00 p.m. — Candle ceremony commences from the Student Union South Patio</span></p><separator></separator><p class="style1" dir="ltr"><span lang="en-us">8:00 p.m. — Cooley Ballrooms: Debrief for men, women and families</span></p><separator></separator><p dir="ltr"><span class="style1" lang="en-us">Childcare will be provided during the program. Families are encouraged to participate. The event is free and open to the public.
