ASU Bookstores grants student scholarships to ASU departments

<p>ASU Bookstores’ partnership with Hewlett-Packard brought the Sun Devil Digital print-on-demand pilot program to the university last year. A component of the partnership with HP was an agreement to grant student scholarships to academic departments that have supported Sun Devil Digital in its first year on campus.&nbsp;</p><separator></separator><p>Student scholarships in the amount of $500 were granted to each selected academic department. The department can now determine how the scholarships will be allocated to deserving students.</p><separator></separator><p>Academic departments receiving scholarships include:</p><separator></separator><p>• College of Nursing and Health Innovation<br />• Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College<br />• School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies<br />• School of Social Transformation<br />• School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment<br />• W.P. The three primary goals of Sun Devil Digital are:</p><separator></separator><p>• Lower the cost of course materials to the students of ASU<br />• Reduce the carbon footprint at ASU for course materials<br />• Make personal publishing easy</p><separator></separator><p>By adopting course materials that can be printed on-demand, instructors can ensure that students are never without the textbooks and manuals they need to succeed.&nbsp;Arrangements have been made with several publishers for rights to print the textbooks on campus using Sun Devil Digital at the ASU Bookstore on the Tempe campus.</p><separator></separator><p>Beginning May 25, Follett Higher Education Group will assume management of ASU Bookstores. While the name will change to Sun Devil Bookstores, print-on-demand through Sun Devil Digital will remain available to the ASU community.</p><separator></separator><p>For more information about these scholarships and the print-on-demand partnership with HP, please contact ASU Bookstores associate director Dennis Mekelburg at 480.965.7960.</p>
