ASU beats Oregon State 11-0 to complete sweep of DeMarini Invitational

<p>Top ranked Arizona State scored seven runs in the first inning and never looked back, shutting out #7 Oregon State 11-0 to close out a weekend sweep at the DeMarini Invitational. <a href="">… Wallace</a> homered on the first pitch he saw to lead off the bottom of the first, his third straight at bat with a home run, and <a href="">Seth Blair</a> picked up his first career victory in front 3,710 fans at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark.</p><separator></separator><p><a href="">… Wallace</a> set the tone for the afternoon early, sending a shot to left field off OSU starter Greg Peavey. It was Wallace's third homer in two days. Things didn't improve much for Peavey after that, as he allowed seven total runs, four earned, in just one third of an inning. <a href="">J… Kipnis</a> continued his hot start to the year, singling up the middle to score <a href=""… Paramore</a> and make it 2-0. Then <a href="… Champagnie</a> ripped a bases loaded double to left to drive home three and make it 5-0. An error moved Champagnie to third, then a balk brought him home to make it 6-0. <a href="">R… Torrez</a> then doubled down the left field line to score <a href="">Ma… Newman</a> and give the Devils the 7-0 lead.</p><separator></separator><p><a href="">Ike Davis</a> doubled home a run in the third to make it 8-0, then <a href="">Ki… Roling</a> scored two more with his double to right field. ASU would add one more in the fourth on a <a href="">Ma… Newman</a> RBI single.</p><separator></separator><p> That was more than enough for freshman righty <a href="">Seth Blair</a> who, pitching on a pitch count, lasted four innings and allowed only three hits. <a href="… Franzblau</a> and <a href=""… Rafferty</a> each threw two scoreless innings and <a href="">J… Jarvis</a> pitched a scoreless ninth to seal the win and a perfect weekend.</p><separator></separator><p><a href="">… Wallace</a> went 2-5, while <a href="… Champagnie</a> knocked in three runs.
