ASU art gallery opens at Tempe Marketplace

An unoccupied commercial space at the Tempe Marketplace has been turned into the Herberger College's newest exhibition space, Night Gallery.

"This gallery is a dream I had," says Jim White, sculpture professor at ASU Herberger College School of Art and whose sculpture based on a dream is part of the initial display. "It's something that we needed for a long time."

Night Gallery is the result of a community partnership the college built with Vestar Development Company, says Joe Baker, ASU Herberger College director of community engagement.

"The ultimate goal is to be a portal for expanding arts awareness and creating cultural exchange," Baker says.
