'Arizona Horizon' offers voters online election resources

The Emmy Award-winning public affairs program "Arizona Horizon" has unveiled VOTE 2012, a comprehensive website to assist Arizona voters at azpbs.org/vote2012.

The website focuses on ongoing debates and interviews with Arizona candidates by the show’s host and managing editor Ted Simons, who was named “Best TV Host 2011” by the Phoenix New Times. "Arizona Horizon" is a flagship production of Eight, Arizona PBS.

In addition to its unique content, the VOTE 2012 website has information about local ballot propositions, voter registration, newly drawn redistricting maps, polling places, voter interviews and more. VOTE 2012 also provides voters with a portal to PBS NewsHour’s interactive election tools and political coverage.

"Arizona Horizon" airs at 5:30 and 10 p.m. weeknights on Eight HD (8.1 OR Cox 1008), and at 7 p.m. on Eight’s World channel (8.3 HD/Cox 88). For more than 30 years, the show has developed a reputation as a reliable source of thoughtful and impartial public affairs reporting. "Arizona Horizon" was named the Arizona Capitol Times’ 2011 Leader of the Year in Public Policy and also received its leadership award for covering arts and humanities statewide.

Similarly, PBS has been ranked as the fairest network for news and public affairs. The same research called PBS America’s most trusted institution and an “excellent” use of tax dollars – for the ninth consecutive year. Research was conducted by independent, non-partisan research companies Harris Interactive, ORC Online Caravan and Roper Public Opinion Poll.
