Alumni Association to honor NFL greats at Oct. 26 luncheon
When it comes to success on the football gridiron, the Arizona State Sun Devils have an exemplary depth of field – ASU players have gone on to play for every team in the NFL.
The ASU Alumni Association, in partnership with the Sun Devil Club, will honor nearly 200 Sun Devil alums who have played professional football on Oct. 26, at its Legends Luncheon: Celebrating the NFL event.
ASU’s “honor roll” of former NFL players includes Jake Plummer, Mike Haynes, Ron Pritchard, Juan Roque, Danny White and J.D. Hill, all of whom are scheduled to attend the luncheon. Co-sponsored by the Sun Devil Club, the luncheon is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m., at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel.
Tim Healey, the radio play-by-play voice of ASU Football, will be master of ceremonies for the event, which will highlight the continuing quality of ASU’s football program and the way in which the university has prepared NFL-bound players for their careers.
Alissa Pierson, executive director of alumni programs and constituent group relations for the Alumni Association, explains that the popular annual luncheon, which highlights a different aspect of ASU’s football program each year, celebrates the sport the day before ASU plays its Homecoming game against UCLA’s Bruins.
“Legends Luncheon pays tribute to the men who built Sun Devil football,” she says. “The Arizona State program has been an important stop for players headed to a professional career in football, and this luncheon will honor their contributions both to ASU and the NFL.”
Tickets to the luncheon are $55 for ASU Alumni Association or Sun Devil Club members and $60 for non-members. Tables seating 10 are $550 for members and $600 for non-members. Sponsorship tables, which include seating for nine plus a former Sun Devil player, start at $1,000.
