The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences graduate degree programs at ASU among best in nation

Multiple schools within the college receive top spots in recent US News & World Report rankings

Graduate programs at The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University are among the best in the nation and continue to raise the standard of higher education, according to newly released U.S. News & World Report rankings.

The College currently offers over 150 graduate degree programs — both online and on campus — across the humanities, natural sciences and social sciences. Seven graduate programs were included in this year’s roundup. 

“Being recognized among the nation’s best in these latest rankings reflects the strength of the graduate-level education offered by The College, especially in the natural sciences,” said Dan Cox, dean of natural sciences. “This is a testament to the dedication of our faculty, students and our commitment to advancing impactful research that addresses complex challenges on local, national and global scales.”

2 ASU graduate programs rank No. 1 in the nation, with 27 total among the top 25 in 2026 US News & World Report list

The School of Earth and Space Exploration ranked No. 11 overall for earth sciences graduate programs, up three spots from the last report, ahead of the University of Wisconsin, the University of California San Diego and Johns Hopkins University. Earth sciences graduate programs offered by the school include master’s degrees in geological sciences and earth and space sciences and a geological sciences PhD

The Department of Psychology came in at No. 38 in clinical psychology, ahead of the University of Georgia, UMass Amherst and Virginia Tech. The department offers a PhD in clinical psychology

The Department of Physics ranked No. 43 overall for physics graduate programs, ahead of the University of Indiana, Virginia Tech and the University of California, Riverside. Physics graduate programs offered by the school include the Master of Natural Science in physics and a physics PhD.
