Alina Voronina, an undergraduate student and research aide at Arizona State University's Biodesign Institute Center for Biocomputing, Security and Society, was recently featured in Harper’s Bazaar Ukraine.

As part of Carlo Maley’s lab, Voronina is helping develop new approaches that could transform how cancer is understood and treated.

In the interview for the publication, Alina shared her personal journey and the scientific challenges she embraces as part of her time as an undergraduate student.

"I realized that in science and technology, there really is no 'right age' to start doing something ambitious. If you have an idea, knowledge and willingness to work, then age ceases to be a limitation,” she told the magazine.

In addition to her work with ASU, Voronina has been working with 3D bioprinting startup SpaceBox BioSystems since 2023. Her work highlights the impact of ASU’s research environment as well as Ukrainian scientists on the global stage.
