The Arizona State University Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center celebrated its fourth annual MIXiversary on March 13 in downtown Mesa.

Guests were invited to the family-friendly open house to experience cutting-edge tech, immersive hands-on activities and live demonstrations.

Experiences featured at the event included The Glow Zone, a dance party in the Enhanced Immersion Studio with black lights and immersive projections, and Inside the Kaleidoscope, where shifting visuals transformed the Volume Studio into a living display of color and pattern. Guests also explored the Kaleidoscope Creation Station and MIXtendo, an oversized retro gaming experience where visitors played Super Mario All-Stars in the screening room on a 6-foot controller. Additional activities included face painting, a photo booth and a temporary tattoo station.

This year, the MIXiversary was held alongside the Mesa Art Center's ALT Fest. The MIXiversary Immortal Jellyfish guided guests from the MIXivesary to ALT Fest through an interactive installation of glowing jellyfish along the path from the MIX Center to the doors of Mesa Arts Center.

At ALT Fest, ASU students in The Design School premiered a drone light show that transformed the night sky into a choreographed canvas of light and motion. The students designed and produced the show as part of the Drone Show Design Program at the MIX Center. Titled “From Light to Light,” the show explored the evolving role of light in human culture — from natural phenomena to technology and artistic expression.
