Applications are now open for the 2026 Banner-ASU Neuroscience Scholars Program, a prestigious summer research experience designed to launch the next generation of neuroscientists.
Hosted jointly by Banner Health and Arizona State University, the program invites highly motivated undergraduate and graduate students from across the country to immerse themselves in hands-on laboratory research, professional development and one-on-one mentorship with leading faculty in neuroscience, neurodegeneration and cognitive health.
Over the course of eight weeks, selected scholars work alongside scientists tackling some of the most urgent questions in brain science. Participants also receive training in science communication, career pathways and research ethics, culminating in a final symposium where scholars present their findings to peers and mentors. The program is fully funded, offering a $4,000 stipend to ensure accessibility for students from all backgrounds.
“The Neuroscience Scholars Program is one of the most rewarding and exciting teaching programs we have,” said Jeffrey Kordower, founding director of the ASU-Banner Neurodegenerative Disease Research Center.
“Students spend time being mentored by faculty and then get to present their results at the end of the semester. The quality of the research and the learning experience for the scholars is outstanding.”
Students with a passion for neuroscience, curiosity about research and a desire to contribute to discoveries that improve human health are encouraged to apply. Applications are open now and close Jan. 30.
