The Arizona State wrestling team earned their 25th all-time shut out as the Sun Devils defeated Pac-10 foe Portland State 40-0. The Sun Devils improved to 2-0 while the Vikings fell to 0-1. The Sun Devils earned their 12th consecutive win over Portland State, putting them at 12-1-0 against the Vikings. Friday’s shut out is also their first since a 46-0 win at home on December 5, 2002 against Embry-Riddle and also marked Ortiz’s 40th home victory.<separator></separator>After No. 8 <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-wrestl/mtt/robles_anthony00.html"… Robles</a> earned six points at 125 due to a forfeit by Portland State’s Glenn Torrano, the Sun Devils got off to a quick start as <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-wrestl/mtt/alegre_angel00.html">A… Alegre</a> earned a 7-6 decision over Thomas Cottrell in the 133 weight class. Competing in the 165 weight class, freshman <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-wrestl/mtt/deberry_kyle00.html">K… DeBerry</a> defeated Alex Bubb, 7-4, to earn his second straight victory. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-wrestl/mtt/starks_eric00.html">Er… Starks</a> followed suit and notched a 7-5 win over Viking Brady Garner.<separator></separator>At 184 lbs, junior <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-wrestl/mtt/cranford_jake00.html">… Cranford</a> had his way with Brian Lemmon as he earned a major decision, winning 13-4. Competing at 197, <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-wrestl/mtt/moen_thor00.html">Thor Moen</a> tallied a 9-6 decision over Portland State’s Keena Washington. ASU’s Eric Nye earned the Sun Devils six final points as Zachary Smith bowed out in the third period due to injury.<separator></separator>After the dual, Robles competed against Terrano in an exhibition match. Terrano was no match for the eighth ranked Robles as Robles earned a 14-0 tech fall.<separator></separator>The Sun Devils head to the Midwest next week for two duals against national powers Iowa and Iowa State.
