Women's tennis wraps up Freeman Memorial
The Arizona State women's tennis team wrapped up at the Freeman Memorial Championship. The Freeman Memorial concludes the Sun Devils tournament season and the team will begin dual season this weekend.
Sianna Simmons won the consolation final of the Flight Two Singles bracket. The freshman battled back after dropping the first set 4-6 and topped Madeline Janse van Rensburg of Oregon in the final two sets.
The doubles team of Kelcy McKenna and Micaela Hein narrowly fell in the Flight One Doubles semi-final with 8-6 as the final. Ashlee Brown and Simmons won their consolation semi-final match over Baylor's Taylor Ormond and Jelena Stanivuk, but were unable to finish their consolation final match over Melanie Gloria and Tinesta Rowe of Fresno State.
In other action, McKenna defeated Baylor's Csilla Borsanyi 5-7, 5-2, retired. Brown dropped a tough 6-3, 6-7, 1-0 (11-9) match to UNLV's Adrienn Hidvegi.
